The Sunrise!

The Sunrise!

A night out with old and new friends

Mason Strehl November 12, 2016

Sooooo surprise surprise, my car broke down again. This time down in Oregon while I was out exploring with Dylan, John and Bridget. Big piece of bad luck, and I had to leave the car down there to get checked out. Well, turns out nothing was wrong with it, or so the mechanic says. But I still needed to go pick it up. Dylan invited me out camping to a spot Andrew knew about, and it was right down by Seattle, so it worked out that I could go hang for a night with some cool people, then hop on a train to go get it.

We drove out right after I got off work so we could make it down there by sunset, and we did. After about 2 1/2 hours, we pulled up to the spot. It was a point on top of a tower of a hill, and it dropped away on three sides a long way down. To my surprise, Bex was there as well as Abby, and when Andrew rolled up 30 minutes later, he brought Tina. So many new and rad people.

It was a good night filled with camp fire warmth, good discussion, lots of laughs, dogs, too many cheese-its and a beautiful night sky. Hard to beat, even though on election night we had bad news coming.

When we woke up, we were greeted by one of the most incredible sunrises I had ever seen. The sky turned pink, then gold, and lit up the whole area. A storm was moving in, and it started sprinkling, but the rain drops only caught in the sun and made everything glow. that would have been good enough for me, but when I looked opposite the sunrise, a full rainbow broke out in the mist. Really can't beat that. Trump won, but the sun still rose.
