Glad you’re here - I’m excited you’re excited to learn more about #CreativesVote 2022!

In 2018 when Creatives Vote launched, we reached a potential audience of over 12 million people - 356,561 people engaged in posts with the #CreativesVote hashtag. I am so thankful to the many, many creatives that shared a message about mobilizing folks to cast a ballot in the U.S. midterm election.

What is #CreativesVote?

It is a positive pressure social campaign. You are someone with social media influence, no matter how big or small an audience, so I’m asking that folks share messages encouraging their followers to get out and vote between now and November 8th.

If you’re down for it, please post:

1) 1 static post or story telling why voting is important to you, before Election Day.

2) 1 Static post on November 8th 2022, encouraging people to please vote if they haven’t - this can be just in the caption, or showing you at your voting location.

Please link vote.org in any stories so folks can take steps toward voting themselves!

How much is enough?

You can do as much or as little as you want. I will be posting static posts and stories to let people know important deadlines in their states (registration, early voting, mail in voting deadlines), helping people make a plan to vote, and encouraging them to carry it out. Getting just 1% of your audience to be voters could tip a state in one direction or another. This is a significant and attainable goal.

What if I’m not very well versed on issues or politics?

There’s lots going on and you don’t have to know everything about every issue. If there is just one thing that’s important to you, that can be motivation to take part and work for change. And, if you want to know anything more or learn about issues, I’d love to help out with that.

Why should I do this?

Feeling jaded about politics and cynical of change is common, especially among our generation - only 1 in 5 young, voting-age people vote. But being a voter is incredibly important work - we can build a country and a system that is responsive to our needs and values, and also works toward a future we all want to live in - our voices will be heard, but only if we vote.

For me, I am driven by climate change - seeing so many natural disasters pop up, from fires to floods, in the places that I love. We were told we’d have years to figure this out, but that timeline has gotten shorter and shorter as we’ve continued to do… not very much. I work in the outdoors, but it’s also my sanctuary - the place that brings me peace, and in my mind, it must be protected at all costs. I am also absolutely furious and frustrated about the overturning of Roe vs. Wade, and this election may give a tiny chance of that legal precedent becoming law.

There may be things that matter more to you personally - there are environmental issues, women rights issues, internet advocacy issues, corruption issues, and so much more on the line.

Is this partisan? Democrat vs. Republican?

Look, the issues that I care about make this partisan for me. That being said, I believe it’s every citizen’s civic duty to vote - if you vote, or encourage others to vote for something I don’t agree with, more power to you.

Thanks for getting this far

I want to educate anyone who wants to learn about the process or what’s at stake. I can answer specific questions about politicians, direct people to polling places, or help them get absentee ballots in order. It’s a big task, but this means a lot to me. I want to show that creatives have a say in the future and I want your voice to be a part of it.

Voting FAQ:

Am I registered to vote? How do I check?

You can check and update your voter registration at USA.gov/register-to-vote

Can I vote Early?

Early voting is available in a lot of states - this allows you to vote on the weekend if you work on Election Day, or schedule it for a convenient time. It’s also great because it will make lines shorter on Election Day for other voters.
